Do Ho Suh, Staircase III, 2011

Pushing the limits and containments in the area of sculpture and engineering, is Korean artist Do Ho Suh in which very recently had a beautiful installation in the Tate Modern. Staircase III (2011) captures Suh's fascination with things transitional. Stretching the limits of what art can be and what sculpture can be is this piece of inspiring and floating staircase piece. As Suh explains in the video, he is fascinated with doors, bridges and staircases because they "separate space as well as connect spaces," therefore showing his keen interest in displaying this staircase to his apartment. The new media is missing, but the combination between engineering and art is pushing the limits of what art can be defined as in the museum.
